Abélia Nordmann - Artistic and musical direction / production managementAbélia Nordmann is a french-german conductor who works on projects with choirs and ensembles in Basel Switzerland as well as neighbouring countries. She's currently directing Novantik Project Basel, Bâlcanto, Contrapunkt chor, Ensemble Liberté, the children of Kinder- und Jugendchor Lörrach and the trinational Ensemble Choeur3. She works for Raum für Kultur H95, for the experimental Open Singing Projekt Markthall and has lead the concert serie Filter4voices.Originally from Munich, she studied piano and music theory before she completed her studies in choral conducting at the Conservatory of Music in Basel. She founded the youth choir Chantier Vocal and worked as a pianist, choral conductor and music teacher.Contemporary music, folk music, choral improvisation and unconventional performance venues are a main focus of her artistic repertoire – a commitment which has always concentrated on interdisciplinary and cross-cultural work, to experience the world and art with critical yet open eyes and ears, to connect people and leave a mark.
Valerio Zanolli - Musical direction
Valerio Zanolli grew up in Turin Italy and came to Basel in order to pursue his education in classical music. He is currenltly studying singing with Rosa Dominguez at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, where he's also being coached by Andreas Scholl, Margreet Honig, Andrea Marcon, Hans-Martin Linde, Alessandro De Marchi, Anthony Rooley and Dominique Vellard. As a singer (bass-baritone) Valerio Zanolli performs in Switzerland, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Germany with conductors Jörg-Andreas Bötticher, Ottavio Dantone, Gabriel Garrido, Kay Johannsen and Johannes Strobl, and with ensembles Elyma, Kammerorchester Basel, Collegium Ad Mosam, Cappella Murensis and Accademia del Santo Spirito with a repertoir starting from the Renaissance era to contemporary music, including several operas. He has worked on recordings for the label AUDITE and for Limburg1, RAI, SFR and ORF. Furthermore, he is the artistic and musical director of novantik project basel, that he co-founded with Abélia Nordmann, focusing mainly on musical works from the Renaissance, Baroque and Classical eras.
